Keshorn Walcott takes home gold in the men’s javelin throw after a national record throw of 84.58m. The 19 year old from Trinidad and Tobago was most recently the world junior champion in an event dominated by European athletes. He won world juniors with just 78.64m but was able to add a staggering amount to that distance in rout to claiming his gold medal. Not only was he the youngest man to ever win the javelin at the Olympics, he is also Trinidad & Tobago’s first ever gold medal in a field event. This young man will be one to look out for in the future as he has improved by almost 10m every year since 2009.
